Keeping Your Pet Safe During Procedures

Whether your pet needs a minor procedure or a more complex surgery, we take every precaution to keep them comfortable and safe.

Local Anesthesia

For small procedures like biopsies, we often use local anesthesia—this numbs the specific area so your pet doesn’t feel pain. In some cases, we also give a sedative or anti-anxiety medication to help keep them calm and relaxed.

For more involved procedures, your pet may need general anesthesia to ensure they’re completely unconscious and pain-free. We know pet owners sometimes worry about anesthesia, but rest assured that modern techniques are very safe. Before administering it, we always perform a physical exam and run blood tests to check for any underlying health concerns. We also follow strict safety protocols and closely monitor your pet’s vital signs throughout the procedure.

Here’s what happens during general anesthesia:

  • We start with a sedative to help your pet relax and minimize stress.
  • We administer an IV anesthetic to induce full unconsciousness.
  • A breathing tube is placed in your pet’s windpipe to ensure a steady supply of oxygen and gas anesthesia to keep them asleep.

Throughout the procedure, a trained veterinary technician carefully monitors your pet’s heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and other vital signs to keep them as safe as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s upcoming procedure, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re happy to walk you through the process and address any worries you may have!
